KTR Calls for Vigilance Ahead of Special Intensive Revision
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has urged party leaders and workers to remain vigilant as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists is set to commence soon in Telangana. Addressing a booth-level workers meeting in the Sanathnagar assembly constituency on Saturday, Rao alleged that the BJP-led central government is systematically removing supporters of opposition parties from the electoral rolls, misusing its authority.
Allegations Against BJP and Congress
Rao further accused the Congress party of winning the Jubilee Hills assembly bypolls through the use of bogus and duplicate voters. He called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure that the SIR process is conducted transparently, leaving no room for irregularities.
Instructions to Party Workers
The BRS leader advised party workers to be cautious to prevent what he termed as mischief and chaos orchestrated by the BJP in Telangana. He emphasized that booth-level agents (BLAs) selected by the party must protect every vote from being unlawfully removed by the ruling BJP or Congress. Rao stressed the need for complete awareness of the SIR process and hinted at organizing additional training sessions for BLAs if required.
Background
The Special Intensive Revision is a periodic exercise aimed at updating voter lists, but political parties often raise concerns about manipulation. Rao’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Telangana, where the BRS is facing challenges from both the BJP and Congress. The party is gearing up for upcoming elections and is keen on ensuring that its voter base remains intact.
