The Left Front, a coalition of leftist parties in West Bengal, officially released its initial list of candidates on Monday for the upcoming state assembly elections. Among the notable names featured in the list are outgoing Rajya Sabha MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, who will be contesting from the Jadavpur constituency in south Kolkata. Additionally, Minakshi Mukherjee, a member of the CPI(M) central committee and a youth face of the Left Front, has been fielded from Uttarpara in the Hooghly district.
Mukherjee previously contested from Nandigram in the 2021 elections, where she secured third place behind BJP's Suvendu Adhikari and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. Her inclusion highlights the Left Front's strategy to leverage youthful energy in their bid to regain political ground.

The seat-sharing arrangement within the Left Front is as follows: the Forward Bloc will contest 21 seats, the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) 13 seats, the Communist Party of India (CPI) 14 seats, the Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI) 1 seat, and the Marxist Communist Party (MCP) 1 seat. He also confirmed that the CPI(ML)-Liberation and the Indian Secular Front (ISF) will field candidates as associates of the Left Front. The ISF, which previously contested in a seat-sharing arrangement with the Left Front in 2021, managed to win a single seat in Bhangar, South 24 Parganas.
