Lucknow Fire Tragedy: Rs 8 Lakh Compensation Provided to Bereaved Family
In a tragic incident that has shaken the community, a devastating fire swept through a shanty settlement in Lucknow, resulting in the loss of two young girls from a single family. The local administration, in a gesture of support, has provided a compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the grieving family. This financial assistance was formally handed over in the presence of Lucknow East MLA OP Srivastava on Thursday.
MLA's Visit and Immediate Response
Expressing profound anguish over the catastrophic event, MLA OP Srivastava visited the fire-ravaged site on Thursday evening. He personally met with the affected families, listening intently to their harrowing experiences and the immense challenges they now face. Srivastava described the condition of the victims as "extremely distressing," emphasizing that many families had lost not only their homes but also years of hard-earned savings, essential household belongings, and their primary means of livelihood in the blaze.
The compensation was disbursed in the form of two separate cheques, each worth Rs 4 lakh, directly to the family members of the deceased girls. During his visit, the MLA assured all impacted residents of comprehensive assistance and support from the government and local authorities.
Urgent Appeal for Comprehensive Relief Measures
Recognizing the scale of the disaster, MLA Srivastava has taken proactive steps by writing a detailed letter to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. In his communication, he has urgently called for immediate intervention to facilitate relief and rehabilitation for all victims of the fire.
The MLA's demands include several critical measures designed to address both immediate and long-term needs:
- Prompt financial assistance from the state's disaster relief fund to provide adequate compensation for all affected families.

- Organization of special camps to facilitate the quick reissuance of essential documents such as Aadhaar cards and ration cards. This step is crucial to ensure uninterrupted access to various government welfare schemes and benefits.
- Priority-based permanent rehabilitation for the affected families under the Chief Minister's Urban Housing Scheme, aiming to restore stability and security.
