Lucknow LPG Crisis: Cylinder Delivery Delays Cripple Households and Businesses

LPG consumers in Lucknow are experiencing significant disruption as cylinders are not being delivered on time despite advance bookings, leaving numerous households without cooking gas for extended periods. The issue, according to residents, stems not from a shortage of supply but from a breakdown in delivery and response systems.

Daily Struggles and Frustrations Mount

This failure has forced people to rely on costly and inconvenient alternatives while making repeated, often futile, visits to local gas agencies. The situation has escalated from a mere inconvenience to a source of daily hardship for many.

Student Ajay Kumar expressed his distress, stating, "No gas, no food—I might have to leave the city." Similarly, Noori reported that her repeated visits to the agency yielded no results. "I keep going back, but no one gives a clear answer," she lamented.

Small Businesses Suffer Severe Impact

The crisis is also taking a heavy toll on small businesses. An eatery owner in Kapoorthala revealed, "We've cut down daytime operations as there's not enough gas." A tea vendor added to the concern, warning, "If supply doesn't come soon, I'll have to shut down."

At the agencies themselves, long queues and persistent server issues have exacerbated the problem. One consumer described the ordeal: "Hours in queue, but no update—just the ‘server down' message every time."

Widespread Inconvenience and Hardship

Ravi Pandey echoed this frustration, saying, "I left work to fetch a cylinder, but saw the crowd and returned empty-handed." Sagun Balram from Jankipuram highlighted the delay, noting his cylinder, booked on March 3, is still pending.

Describing the particular hardship during Ramazan, Afifa Qureshi from Nazarbagh said, "Cooking became a daily struggle—we had no choice but to shift to an induction cooker."

In some extreme cases, families have been forced to relocate temporarily. Hajra Bano shared, "Our cylinder ran out and we had to move to a relative's house."

A Crisis Without Clear Resolution

With no clear resolution in sight and systems failing to respond effectively, residents report that the crisis is deepening. The lack of timely LPG delivery is not just disrupting meals but threatening livelihoods and daily routines across Lucknow.

The collective voice of the affected underscores a pressing need for improved logistics and communication from service providers to alleviate this growing burden on the community.
