In a significant development, Lucknow district has emerged with the highest number of deleted voters during the final electoral roll revision in Uttar Pradesh. Over 9.14 lakh names were struck off the rolls, accounting for 22.89% of the electorate as of April 10. This figure represents the highest deletion rate in the state, highlighting a major overhaul in the voter list.

Demographic Overview and Gender Ratio

Lucknow district, with a total population of approximately 60.4 lakh, has 30.8 lakh registered voters. Among these, 16.13 lakh are male voters, while 14.67 lakh are female voters, resulting in a gender ratio of 910. This ratio is marginally better than Uttar Pradesh's overall gender ratio of 834, indicating a slightly more balanced representation in the district.

Constituency-Wise Analysis of Voter Deletions

The deletion of voters varied significantly across different assembly constituencies within Lucknow district. Lucknow North recorded the highest number of deletions at 1.54 lakh, followed closely by Lucknow East with 1.43 lakh and Sarojini Nagar with 1.42 lakh deletions.

In terms of percentage, Lucknow Cantt saw the maximum deletion rate at 34.18%, while Lucknow East and North each recorded deletions exceeding 31%. In contrast, Malihabad reported the lowest deletion rate at 10.34%. Sarojini Nagar, despite being the largest constituency with 4.6 lakh voters, had a comparatively lower deletion rate of 23.6%.

Gender Ratio Variations Across Constituencies

Gender ratios showed sharp disparities among the constituencies. Lucknow East recorded the highest gender ratio at 975, followed by Lucknow Cantt at 952, Lucknow Central at 950, Lucknow North at 934, and Lucknow West at 923. However, Sarojini Nagar, Bakshi Ka Talab, and Malihabad remained below the district average, with gender ratios under 900.

Navdeep Rinwa, the chief electoral officer of Uttar Pradesh, commented on this trend, stating, "Though Lucknow recorded maximum voter deletion, the top five assembly constituencies with the highest gender ratio were recorded in the state capital itself, including Lucknow East, Lucknow Cantt, Lucknow Central, Lucknow North and Lucknow West."

Youth Enrolment and Demographic Diversity

Youth enrolment in the 18-19 age category showed moderate participation, with Lucknow registering a total of 39,760 voters. Sarojini Nagar led the tally with 6,182 young voters, followed by Bakshi Ka Talab with 5,668 and Lucknow West with 5,958. Lucknow Cantt recorded the lowest youth enrolment at 3,228.

The electoral rolls also reflect demographic diversity, with 375 overseas voters and 180 voters aged above 100 years. Additionally, there are 22,379 voters registered under physically challenged categories, with Bakshi Ka Talab accounting for the highest number at 3,455.
