Lucknow University LLB Students Protest Over Failed Results, NEP Adopted
Lucknow University LLB Students Protest Over Failed Results

Lucknow University witnessed protests from LLB Semester-I students after the declaration of results showed several students as failed, with some receiving marks in single digits. In response, the university announced the adoption of the National Education Policy (NEP), under which no student will fail in the first semester. Consequently, those who scored in single digits were passed.

Student Grievances

Student Ankit Verma stated that answer sheets were evaluated on the old 70-mark format instead of the revised 90-mark system. As a result, students who expected first division received much lower scores. The results were first declared, then rolled back, and declared again, leading to most students failing.

Priya Singh mentioned that many students were given year-backs and forced to pay for recheck and back paper fees. Avnish Singh expressed concern that the issue could harm their CGPA and academic records.

Demands of the Students

  • Conduct an inquiry into the evaluation process.
  • Ensure re-evaluation of answer sheets.
  • Assessment by experienced professors.
  • Restoration of the 70:30 evaluation system.
  • Extension of the Semester-II examination form deadline until corrected results are issued.

University's Response

The university clarified that first-year, second-semester students would be the first batch under the new NEP system. Under the revised framework, all LLB students in both programmes will be promoted from odd to even semester. Vice Chancellor J P Saini said the move would ensure continuity in the academic session and reduce delays in the examination cycle.
