Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation continued its strict action against illegal constructions on Thursday. Officials sealed six commercial buildings across the city. The building branch carried out this drive under the direct orders of MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.
Details of the Sealed Buildings
According to municipal officials, two of the sealed buildings stood on Barewal Road. Another two were located on 200 Feet Road. One building each was situated on Magnet Resort Road and Ferozepur Road.
Assistant town planner Harvinder Singh Honey explained the reason for the action. He said the owners failed to clear their pending dues. These dues included change of land use charges.
Official Warning to Residents
Harvinder Singh Honey issued a clear warning to all residents. He urged people to get their building plans approved by the municipal corporation before starting any construction. The official stated that strict action would follow against anyone violating building norms.
MLA Intervenes in Vendor Removal Drive
In a separate development, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Sidhu stopped the MC tehbazaari team on Thursday. The team was attempting to lift roadside vends on Model Town Road near Children's Traffic Park.
Sidhu argued strongly with the civic officials. He said the municipal corporation should either stop issuing receipts to vendors or avoid removing their carts from the roadside.
Outcome of the Intervention
Following the MLA's intervention, the MC teams pulled back from the site. However, civic officials maintained their position on the matter.
They clarified that the receipts issued were specifically for moving vendors, not for stationary ones. The officials stated they would return on another day to clear the encroachments.
