Forest Minister Ganesh Naik informed the Maharashtra legislative assembly on Wednesday that the suspension was ordered by the deputy conservator of forests. This action follows the constitution of a three-member inquiry committee, which was established under the leadership of a retired divisional forest officer to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The committee conducted a comprehensive examination, including interviews with concerned staff, officers, and the complainant, along with a detailed scrutiny of all relevant documents. Their findings were submitted to the Yavatmal chief conservator of forests on February 10, providing a basis for the disciplinary measures taken.

The issue was brought to light through a starred question by Bramhapuri MLA Vijay Wadettiwar, who sought specific details on the inquiry's timeline and the actions against those found guilty. In response, Minister Naik clarified the committee's recommendations, which include initiating a departmental inquiry against the two suspended officials under the Maharashtra Civil Services Rules, 1979.
