The officer explained that Balram had come to the stall to purchase a packet of gutkha and was returning when the car first struck him before crashing into the stall. Thanaram and Kailash were sitting at the stall at the time. “Balram succumbed to the injuries at the hospital,” an officer confirmed.

Public Reaction and Driver's Statement

Angry locals apprehended the driver and allegedly assaulted him before police intervened. During questioning, the driver reportedly told police that he lost control after briefly dozing off while driving. Police have seized the taxi for further investigation.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the vehicle, driven rashly, appeared to be traveling at nearly 130 kilometers per hour. “We were sitting and using our mobile phones when the car suddenly came towards us. It first hit the young man and then crashed into the stall. We narrowly survived,” said an eyewitness.
