Mandya MLA P Ravikumar Leads Quarterly Review Meeting with Stringent Directives

In a significant move to enhance public welfare, Mandya MLA P Ravikumar chaired the Quarterly Progress Review (KDP) meeting at the zilla panchayat's Cauvery Auditorium on Thursday. The meeting focused on addressing critical issues across various sectors, with the MLA issuing clear instructions to district officials for immediate action.

Crackdown on Unauthorized Liquor Outlets

MLA Ravikumar directed officials to take stringent action against the growing number of unauthorized liquor outlets in the region. He emphasized the urgent need to safeguard public health and social order by curbing illegal liquor sales. The MLA called for strict enforcement of existing laws and regulations to ensure compliance and reduce the proliferation of such establishments.

Healthcare Sector Reforms and Improvements

On the healthcare front, Ravikumar instructed officials to ensure an adequate stock of essential medicines in all government hospitals to prevent inconvenience to patients. He specifically highlighted the need to appoint doctors at Basaralu Government Hospital to provide round-the-clock medical services. Additionally, the MLA directed the maintenance of 24x7 ambulance facilities to guarantee timely medical care during emergencies.

Education Initiatives and Student Welfare

In the education sector, the MLA proposed organizing summer camps to keep students engaged during vacations and encourage enrolment in government institutions. He ordered the timely distribution of uniforms under the Vidya Vikasa scheme for the 2025–26 academic year. Furthermore, Ravikumar directed officials to verify land records of government schools to ensure proper registration and address any discrepancies.

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Support

Addressing agricultural concerns, the MLA asked the agriculture department to ensure sufficient availability of seeds and fertilisers for farmers. He also called for conducting awareness drives on government schemes to benefit the farming community. For livestock owners, Ravikumar directed the animal husbandry department to educate them on compensation schemes and documentation procedures in case of animal deaths.

Welfare Measures and Infrastructure Monitoring

Highlighting welfare measures, the MLA stressed the need to provide quality nutrition to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children through Anganwadi centres, including doorstep delivery for new mothers. He also called for monthly reviews of the government's five guarantee schemes to identify and address implementation gaps.

To ease student travel, Ravikumar urged the introduction of additional bus services during peak hours. He instructed power officials to minimise outages during summer and ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply for farmers. The MLA also directed officials to closely monitor all villages to prevent drinking water shortages.

Hostel Hygiene and Student Grievance Redressal

Ravikumar called on the social welfare department to maintain high standards of hygiene and food quality in hostels. He urged regular inspections and asked officials to interact directly with students to address their grievances promptly. The meeting was attended by senior district officials and representatives from various departments, ensuring a coordinated approach to implementing these directives.
