Mandya sets 6-month deadline for pending inheritance mutation cases

Agriculture and District Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy has issued a strict six-month deadline for officials to clear all pending applications under the 'Pouti Khata' or inheritance mutation campaign in Mandya. The directive aims to provide immediate relief to affected families and streamline revenue processes.

Key Directives from KDP Meeting

Minister Cheluvarayaswamy issued these instructions while presiding over the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting at the Cauvery Auditorium in the zilla panchayat. He emphasized that no application should remain pending, ensuring a hassle-free process for citizens. The minister also reviewed relief measures for recent natural calamities.

A total of 151 houses were damaged during the recent monsoon rains. The administration has already disbursed compensation amounting to Rs 60.3 lakh to the eligible beneficiaries. On the agricultural front, crop damage spanning 69.7 hectares was reported between September and December 17. Compensation of Rs 18.1 lakh has been paid to 198 beneficiaries, including those affected by canal breaches.

Simplifying Revenue Processes and Infrastructure Warnings

In a significant move to ease public interaction with the revenue department, the government has simplified the 'Darkhast Podi' process. The documentation requirements have been reduced from five to just three. For applicants lacking necessary documents, officials will now conduct village visits and on-the-spot verifications to facilitate the process.

Expressing concern over delays in the Jaladhare and Jal Jeevan Mission works, the minister warned of strict action against negligence. He highlighted that such delays could lead to future drinking water shortages in the region.

Highway Safety and District Achievements

State Pollution Control Board Chairman and Malavalli MLA, PM Narendra Swamy, provided updates on road safety. While noting a decline in fatalities on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, he pointed out that 1.8 lakh traffic violation cases had resulted in fines totalling Rs 4.5 crore. He emphasized the need for better lighting at highway junctions and timely restoration of roads after pipeline work.

Deputy Commissioner Kumara reported that Mandya district is leading the state in the inheritance mutation campaign and deemed forest survey. He also noted a decline in farmer suicides in the district. Zilla Panchayat CEO KR Nandini informed the meeting that special classes are being conducted to improve SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) results.
