Mangaluru MLA UT Khader Highlights Key Budget Allocations for Local Development

In a recent press briefing on Saturday, Mangaluru MLA and Speaker UT Khader announced significant budget allocations aimed at enhancing public services and infrastructure in his constituency. The new police station sanctioned for Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk is set to benefit residents from interior areas who previously faced long travel distances for essential services, including passport verification.

Infrastructure and Development Projects Unveiled

Khader emphasized that following delimitation and the formation of the Ullal taluk, parts of Bantwal taluk have been integrated into his constituency, necessitating improved facilities. He detailed the inclusion of a riverside road project from Kallapu to Sajipanadu in the budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This project, part of riverbank protection plans, has been allocated Rs 50 crore, with works worth Rs 10 crore already underway.

Additionally, a Shramika School has been sanctioned for Ullal, further boosting educational infrastructure in the region. Khader also highlighted his request for one of the 10 new Government Tool Room & Training Centres (GTTCs) announced in the budget to be established in his constituency. Each GTTC, costing Rs 60 crore, is part of a Rs 600 crore initiative aimed at bridging the gap between industry needs and academics.

Expansion of Police Services and Electoral Responsibilities

On law enforcement, Khader noted that a proposal has been submitted to the government regarding the jurisdiction of two new police stations in Dakshina Kannada district. The Sajipanadu police station will cover areas such as Manchi, Ira, Sajipanadu, and others, while the Mani police station will include Shamburu, Barimaru, and additional villages. This expansion is expected to enhance security and accessibility for local communities.

Regarding electoral processes, Khader stressed the responsibility of the Election Commission of India to ensure that every citizen above 18 years has the opportunity to vote, as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) mapping of the voter list. He affirmed that no eligible voter should be denied this fundamental right, underscoring the importance of inclusive democratic participation.

These initiatives reflect a concerted effort to address local needs through strategic budget allocations, promising improved services, infrastructure, and opportunities for residents in Mangaluru and surrounding areas.
