Mayawati Emphasizes Small-Level Meetings for Bahujan Empowerment

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has emphasized the importance of holding 'small-level' meetings with Bahujan communities to motivate them to assume governance and become the 'ruling class,' as they have in Uttar Pradesh.

Reviewing Party Organization Ahead of Elections

Mayawati is currently reviewing the party's organizational setup in states preparing for assembly elections early next year. After reviewing the Uttar Pradesh unit on Sunday, she conducted a review of the Uttarakhand unit on Tuesday. She may hold similar meetings in Punjab, which also has assembly elections due in early 2027.

Strengthening Outreach Efforts

In these meetings, Mayawati has been urging her party members to strengthen outreach efforts with Bahujan communities, which include Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Muslims, other religious minorities, and poor individuals from upper castes.

She advised party workers to be vigilant against opposition parties attempting to weaken the BSP's vote base. She stressed that voters should be warned about opposition tactics through cadre camps and small-level meetings. Mayawati noted that party workers must continuously remind voters of the welfare measures implemented by BSP governments in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand (when it was not a separate state) through administrative reforms.

Candidate Selection Process

Selection of candidates is another crucial poll-related process that Mayawati has been emphasizing in these meetings. The party is focusing on identifying strong candidates who can effectively represent the Bahujan communities and lead the party to victory.
