COIMBATORE: MDMK principal secretary and Lok Sabha member Durai Vaiko on Thursday stated that Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has generated an attraction that is drawing cadres from other political parties, and this phenomenon cannot be considered a mistake.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, Durai Vaiko remarked that TVK has brought about a change that leaders such as G K Moopanar, Vaiko, and Vijayakanth could not achieve. He highlighted that TVK's appeal cuts across caste, religion, and money power, leading to a significant pull among party workers.
Regarding the reported loss of a hard disk from the electricity board headquarters in Chennai, Durai Vaiko said officials should take action and the police should investigate why it was stolen.
On the issue of farm loan waiver, he noted that the new government and the concerned ministers have explained their position. He mentioned that the government has indicated efforts to waive more farm loans in the coming period and expressed hope that a white paper on finances would clarify which promises are feasible and which cannot be implemented immediately.
Durai Vaiko said that MDMK has been part of the DMK-led alliance for over ten years and there is currently no situation to support TVK. “Any future decision will be taken by the party’s general council,” he added.
On law and order, he stated that a crime-free condition is impossible and that arrests are being made as in previous regimes. Citing administrative reshuffles, he said the government should be given six to twelve months to deliver results.
