In Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday commemorated the completion of eight years of the National People's Party (NPP)-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government. Political Stability as a Foundation for Progress

A key pillar of the state's progress, according to the Chief Minister, has been political stability. He emphasized that consistent governance and long-term planning have been enabled by this stability. Sangma stated, "Without stability, development is not possible. Over the last eight years, we have ensured a stable political environment that allowed us to pursue our vision and take decisions in the best interest of the state."

Major Projects and Sectoral Initiatives

The government has initiated substantial projects across various sectors. In the Khasi Hills, 1,576 projects have been launched, while in the Jaintia Hills, projects worth approximately Rs 21,000 crore are underway. These investments aim to boost infrastructure and economic growth in these regions.

Focus on Education and Environmental Conservation

In the education sector, nearly one lakh students have benefited from scholarships, each receiving Rs 6,000, totaling Rs 60 crore. This initiative supports academic pursuits and enhances access to education. Additionally, environmental conservation has been prioritized, with Rs 120 crore allocated under the Green Meghalaya initiative. This funding supports communities in preserving forests and promoting sustainable practices.

The event underscored the government's commitment to inclusive development and long-term planning, setting a positive trajectory for Meghalaya's future.
