Maharashtra MLA Vinay Kore Secures Ministerial Assurance for Accelerated Ghat Road Construction

In a significant development for regional infrastructure, Panhala-Shahuwadi MLA Vinay Kore announced on Saturday that he had met with Maharashtra's Public Works Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale at Mantralaya in Mumbai on Friday. During this high-level meeting, Kore successfully secured a firm assurance from the minister that instructions would be issued to accelerate the construction work on three major ghat roads. These critical routes are designed to enhance connectivity between the Kolhapur and Ratnagiri districts, promising to transform transportation and economic prospects in the area.

Key Stakeholders and Detailed Discussions

The meeting was not limited to Kore and Minister Bhosale; it included a robust assembly of officials and representatives to ensure comprehensive planning. Attendees comprised Rajapur MLA Kiran Samant, Karveer MLA Chandradeep Narke, Secretary (Roads) Sanjay Dashpute, Chief Engineer (National Highways) Santosh Shelar, former construction and health chairman of Kolhapur Zilla Parishad Sarjerao Patil, along with other key officials. Their collective focus was on advancing the construction of three specific ghat roads, which are pivotal for improving links between the Konkan region and various parts of Kolhapur district.

Overview of the Three Proposed Ghat Roads

The three ghat roads under discussion are strategically planned to address connectivity gaps and foster regional integration:

  • First Road: This route will traverse via Pawankhind-Gajapur-Vishalgad in Shahuwadi tehsil, connecting to Devde-Bhowade in Sangameshwar tehsil of Ratnagiri district. It aims to provide a direct and efficient passage for commuters and goods.
  • Second Ghat Road: Starting from Anuskura-Gawadi village in Shahuwadi tehsil, this road will extend to Bhambed Dhangarwadi in Lanja tehsil of Ratnagiri. It is expected to facilitate smoother travel and reduce journey times significantly.
  • Third Ghat Road: A newly proposed route that will link Vashi-Padsali in Panhala tehsil of Kolhapur to Kajirda in Rajapur tehsil of Ratnagiri. This addition is crucial for expanding network coverage and accessibility.

MLA Kore's Vision for Regional Development

MLA Vinay Kore emphasized the transformative potential of these infrastructure projects. He stated, "If new ghat roads are constructed to connect Konkan with Shahuwadi and Panhala talukas and Kolhapur district, it will add substantially to the development of both Kolhapur and Konkan regions. Beyond mere connectivity, these roads will serve as catalysts for tourism growth, attracting more visitors and boosting local economies. We formally requested prompt action from State Public Works Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale, and in response, the minister has assured us that all necessary approvals for these works will be granted soon."

This assurance marks a pivotal step forward in addressing long-standing infrastructure needs, with the promise of enhanced mobility, economic opportunities, and tourism prospects for the communities involved.
