MNS demands NMMC revoke certificate after 2nd labourer death

In Navi Mumbai, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) city president Gajanan Kale has demanded that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) immediately revoke the commencement certificate (CC) of a construction firm following the death of a 29-year-old labourer. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the worker fell from the 27th floor of a high-rise under redevelopment in Vashi after losing balance while carrying out drilling work.

Second fatal accident in two months

This marks the second fatal accident at the same construction site within the past two months. On March 4, a 21-year-old labourer also tragically died while engaged in construction work at the site. The repeated incidents have raised serious concerns about safety measures and regulatory oversight.

Demand for action

Gajanan Kale has strongly urged the NMMC to revoke the commencement certificate of the construction firm responsible for the project. He emphasized that the negligence leading to these deaths cannot be tolerated and that strict action is necessary to prevent further tragedies. The MNS city president also called for a thorough investigation into the incidents and accountability for those responsible.

The construction site, located in the Vashi area, has been under redevelopment. Local residents and workers have expressed fear and anger over the lack of safety protocols. The NMMC is yet to respond to the demand, but the incident has sparked a debate on worker safety in high-rise construction projects across the city.
