Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches NDA's Kerala Election Campaign with Fiery Speech in Palakkad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday officially kicked off the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) election campaign in Kerala with a powerful address in Palakkad, where he delivered a scathing critique of the state's dominant political fronts and boldly declared that the BJP-led NDA is Kerala's "real A-team," not merely a "B-team" for any other party.
Modi Asserts NDA's Role in Transforming Kerala into Viksit Keralam
Addressing a massive and enthusiastic crowd in Palakkad, Modi emphasized that the NDA is contesting the elections with the clear objective of forming a government and fundamentally transforming Kerala into a developed state, which he termed "Viksit Keralam." He noted that the state is currently experiencing a "different vibe" and showing unmistakable signs of an impending political shift.
"Kerala has been trapped for decades between the two fronts that have indulged in self-centered politics," Modi stated. "Between the LDF and UDF, and between the Congress and the communists, one is corrupt and the other is highly corrupt, communal, and highly communal. The policies of both the LDF and UDF are driven solely by votebank politics."
BJP Positioned as the Sole 'A-Team' Amidst Political Rivalry
Modi highlighted that both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) frequently accuse each other of being the BJP's "B-team." He turned this accusation on its head, arguing that it implicitly acknowledges the BJP's strength.
"This means both the LDF and UDF have themselves admitted that in this Kerala election, if there is one real A-team, it is only and only the BJP," he proclaimed. "The NDA's growing popularity, the people's increasing trust in the BJP, your enthusiasm and support today, and your presence in such large numbers here in Palakkad—all this demonstrates that Kerala's mood has evolved into a full-fledged movement."
He assured the audience that the people of Kerala will no longer be deceived by the empty promises of the LDF and UDF. "Only the BJP-NDA can genuinely fulfil the aspirations of the people and ensure comprehensive development. What has remained unchanged for so long will now change. Kerala will finally develop," Modi asserted.
Modi Claims LDF and UDF Fear BJP's Rise to Power
The Prime Minister suggested that both political fronts are aggressively targeting the BJP out of sheer fear. "This indicates that if these two corrupt parties are afraid of anyone, it is the BJP. They fear the BJP because they believe that if the BJP comes to power, all their wrongdoings and scandals will be exposed to the public," he explained.
Emphasis on Women-Led Development and Contrast with Congress
Modi also underscored the BJP's commitment to women-led development, highlighting initiatives in financial inclusion, healthcare, and housing. "Today, women receive the highest priority in central government schemes. We have also passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act to ensure greater participation of women in legislative assemblies and Parliament," he noted.
In a pointed dig at the Congress, Modi referenced recent controversies involving sexual harassment allegations against its leaders. He contrasted this with the NDA's achievement in elevating Droupadi Murmu, the daughter of a simple family, to the position of President of India.
"Congress, on the other hand... you have seen it in Palakkad itself... their leaders have become a threat to the safety of women. Just yesterday, the Congress was forced to expel another of its leaders from the party after serious allegations of women exploitation," Modi remarked.
Introduction of NDA Candidate Sobha Surendran in Palakkad
During his speech, Modi introduced Sobha Surendran, the NDA candidate from Palakkad, describing her as a familiar and respected figure in the constituency. He recalled the previous election, where the NDA fielded the highly respected 'Metroman' E. Sreedharan, who unfortunately finished second.
"Sobha is not a new face in Palakkad. Last time, we had Metroman E. Sreedharan, who is highly respected across the country, as our candidate. Unfortunately, he came second," Modi said, expressing hope for a better outcome this time with Surendran's candidacy.
