In a significant breakthrough under the ongoing anti-drug drive, the Mohali police apprehended two individuals and recovered 188 grams of heroin from their possession. The accused have been identified as Jashanpreet Singh, a resident of Ferozepur, and Sukhwinder Singh, who hails from Jalalabad.

Details of the Operation

According to the police, a team from the Phase-11 police station spotted the duo behaving suspiciously near a motorcycle close to the bushes adjacent to Bawa White House, situated near the Mohali railway station. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee the scene. However, the police personnel gave chase and successfully apprehended them after a brief pursuit.

Recovery of Contraband

During a thorough search of the suspects, the police recovered 132 grams of heroin from Jashanpreet Singh and an additional 56 grams from Sukhwinder Singh. The total quantity of heroin seized from the two individuals amounted to 188 grams.

Legal Proceedings

A case has been registered against both accused under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police have initiated further investigations to ascertain the source of the drugs and any possible links to larger drug networks. The accused are currently in police custody and will be produced before the court in due course.

The Mohali police have reiterated their commitment to curbing the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the region. They have urged the public to cooperate by providing any information related to illegal drug activities.
