Kottayam: Kerala Congress (Joseph) executive chairman Mons Joseph has called on the Congress party to announce the chief minister without any further delay and proceed with the formation of the cabinet at the earliest possible opportunity. Speaking to a news channel in Kottayam on Tuesday, Mons Joseph refrained from directly criticizing the ongoing delay but emphasized the urgency of reaching a consensus within the party regarding the chief ministerial candidate. He expressed concerns that any prolonged indecision could negatively impact the United Democratic Front (UDF) spectacular victory in the recent elections.
UDF constituents express their stand
Mons Joseph revealed that the Kerala Congress (Joseph) along with other constituents of the UDF have already communicated their respective positions regarding the chief minister to the Congress leadership. He stressed that the alliance partners are eager to see a swift resolution to the leadership issue to ensure a smooth transition of power and the formation of a stable government.
Claim for ministerial berths
In addition, Joseph stated that the Kerala Congress (Joseph) would stake claim for two ministerial berths during the upcoming UDF meeting. The party, which saw seven of its candidates elected to the assembly, believes it is entitled to a significant role in the new government. The demand for cabinet positions is seen as a crucial step in maintaining the alliance's unity and rewarding the party's electoral performance.
