Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Greenlights Major Agricultural and Infrastructure Initiatives

The Madhya Pradesh state cabinet, in a significant move, has cleared a substantial bonus of Rs 40 per quintal on wheat procurement specifically for the upcoming 2026-27 rabi season. This financial incentive will be disbursed over and above the established minimum support price, providing a crucial boost to farmers across the state.

Approval of Panwar Micro Irrigation Project in Rewa

Simultaneously, the cabinet has given its official approval to the Panwar Micro Irrigation Project, a major initiative with a budget of Rs 228.42 crore. This ambitious project is designed to span an extensive area of 7,350 hectares, covering 37 villages located within the Jawa and Tyonthar tehsils of Rewa district. The implementation of this micro irrigation scheme is expected to significantly enhance water efficiency and agricultural productivity in the region.

  • Road Development Program Continuations: The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 7.38 crore for the continuation of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Programme from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2028. Maintenance and Administrative Reforms

Briefing reporters after the cabinet conclave, MSME Minister Chaitanya Kashyap detailed further financial approvals. These encompass Rs 200.35 crore allocated for the maintenance and upkeep of government residential houses and rest houses. An additional Rs 300 crore has been sanctioned for the maintenance of office buildings, including the Satpura and Vindhyachal buildings, as well as for the operation and maintenance of the Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal for the period between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2031.

The cabinet also undertook key administrative reforms by approving amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Work (Allocation) Rules. Notably, the Madhya Pradesh Stores Purchase and Service Procurement Rules have been placed under the purview of the Finance Department, a transfer from the MSME department. Officials clarified that this reallocation will not impose any additional financial burden on the state exchequer.

Departmental Name Changes

In a separate decision, the cabinet approved an amendment to the schedule of the Madhya Pradesh Business (Allocation) Rules. According to this approval, the name of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department has been formally amended to the Cow Husbandry and Animal Husbandry Department. Correspondingly, the name of the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has been changed to the Directorate of Cow Husbandry and Animal Husbandry.

These sweeping decisions by the Madhya Pradesh cabinet underscore a multi-pronged strategy focusing on agricultural support, critical irrigation infrastructure, large-scale urban development, and administrative streamlining to foster comprehensive state growth.
