Naidu: Collectors Must Lead Investment Drive, Unveils Tourism Plans

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu Directs District Collectors to Lead Investment Drive

In a significant move to boost economic growth, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday issued clear directives to district collectors, emphasizing that attracting investments must not be solely the responsibility of departments but should involve direct, proactive leadership from collectors themselves. Addressing the second day of the sixth edition of the collectors' conference in Vijayawada, Naidu outlined a comprehensive strategy to transform the state's investment landscape.

Three-Point CCC Strategy: Commitment, Convince, Cooperate

Prescribing a three-point CCC strategy—Commitment, Convince, and Cooperate—Naidu urged collectors to actively identify potential investors, persuade them to invest in the state, and extend full cooperation to projects that come forward. He stressed that districts would be ranked based on their speed of doing business and effectiveness in investment facilitation, with regular reviews planned from the next meeting to track how many industries each collector facilitated.

Major Tourism and Industrial Development Initiatives Announced

Naidu announced ambitious plans to develop Disneyland and Bhavani Island in Vijayawada as premier tourism destinations, aiming to attract both domestic and international visitors. Additionally, he revealed that a Creative City would be established in Amaravati to promote industries such as artificial intelligence, film, and content creation, as part of broader efforts to boost the state's creative economy.

On the industrial front, Naidu highlighted specific hubs for development: Orvakal, with its existing industrial cluster and airport facilities, is poised to emerge as a major industrial hub, while Kopparthi in Kadapa district will also be developed as an industrial cluster. An Electronics City is being considered near Hindupur, further diversifying the state's industrial base.

Focus on Local Strengths and Proactive Investor Outreach

Emphasizing the importance of leveraging local strengths, Naidu directed districts to focus on promoting sectors suited to their unique advantages—whether industry, tourism, IT, MSMEs, or agriculture. He called on collectors and ministers to proactively approach investors instead of waiting for them to come forward, ensuring a more dynamic and responsive investment environment.

Tourism Department Charged with Infrastructure Development

Urging the tourism department to enhance infrastructure, Naidu outlined plans to develop historical sites, pilgrim centers, and ancient monuments into attractive tourist destinations. The department is tasked with creating 50,000 hotel rooms, promoting homestays, and building convention and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) centers. To support tourism and investment, wayside amenities, EV charging stations, and night-halt facilities along national highways will be developed.

Launch of Tribal Organic Millet Food Menu

In a nod to promoting local cuisine and health, Naidu launched ‘Araku Kouni’, the first tribal organic millet food menu. He announced that efforts will be made to include Araku Kouni dishes in the menus of leading hotels and restaurants, supporting tribal communities and encouraging healthy eating practices.

This comprehensive approach underscores Naidu's vision for a robust, diversified economy in Andhra Pradesh, driven by local leadership and strategic investments across multiple sectors.
