Naidu rejects YSRCP's DSC recruitment irregularities allegations

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu strongly rejected allegations of irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process on Wednesday. Reacting to YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s allegations of “large-scale irregularities” in the DSC and his demand for a CBI inquiry into the teacher recruitment process, Naidu said the opposition has been running a “misinformation campaign.”

Government Defends Transparency

“The government conducted the teacher recruitment exercise through DSC with utmost transparency and fulfilled its poll promise,” Naidu stated. Refuting allegations over sports quota appointments, he said selections were made strictly in accordance with categories prescribed by the Centre. “Opposition leaders are making baseless allegations without proper study, and continue to indulge in false propaganda and destructive politics,” he added.

Jagan’s Allegations

Earlier, Jagan alleged that the entire DSC recruitment process lacked transparency and was full of violations. The former chief minister, who met some DSC candidates from various districts at the YSRCP central office, said several aspirants who secured ranks, attended certificate verification, and completed all stages of the recruitment process were ultimately denied appointments. Calling it “grave injustice,” he assured the candidates that YSRCP will stand by them in their fight for justice.

Sports Quota Controversy

Jagan questioned the government over the handling of sports quota appointments, alleging that recruitment norms were altered and candidates who successfully completed certificate verification and interviews were excluded from the final selection lists without adequate explanation. “In some cases, candidates were shown as absent during verification despite attending the process, while others found their names missing from both selected and rejected lists,” he alleged.

YSRCP’s Legal Action

Jagan said YSRCP will constitute a legal panel comprising the party’s legal team, teacher MLCs, and student-wing representatives to pursue the matter in courts. The party would bear the legal expenses for affected candidates, he added.
