In a significant move to address persistent traffic woes, Nashik Central MLA Devyani Pharande on Friday submitted a formal memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The document strongly advocates for the state government's approval and financial allocation for two major infrastructure enhancements along the Nashik-Pune national highway corridor that traverses through the city.
Targeting Two Critical Junctions for Development
The MLA's proposal specifically calls for the construction of one vehicular underpass at the Kathegalli junction and one flyover at the Bodhale Nagar crossroad. Both locations are situated on the highly congested Dwarka to Nashik Road section, which serves as a vital arterial route for the entire region.
"These strategic interventions are essential to streamline vehicular movement and substantially reduce the daily delays experienced by countless commuters," Pharande emphasized. "The Kathegalli junction is notorious for frequent traffic bottlenecks, while Bodhale Nagar crossroads face severe congestion, particularly during morning and evening peak hours."

Gayatree Bhalerao, a resident of Nashik Road, proposed specific regulatory measures: "An effective approach would involve restricting heavy vehicle movement during daytime hours. Such restrictions could be relaxed once the proposed flyover becomes operational, creating a more balanced traffic ecosystem."
