Nashik Poised to Become Major Investment Hub Post-Kumbh Mela, Says CM Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Monday that Nashik is on the cusp of a significant transformation into a premier investment destination, driven by a massive infrastructure development push across the city and its metropolitan region in preparation for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
Rs 25,000 Crore Infrastructure Drive Underway
The CM revealed that development works valued at approximately Rs 25,000 crore are currently in progress to prepare for the religious mega event. Speaking at a bond listing ceremony at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Mumbai, Fadnavis emphasized that the scale and quality of the infrastructure being constructed will dramatically enhance Nashik's attractiveness to industries, investors, and large-scale enterprises.
"The pace of development in the next year-and-a-half will give the city a modern, future-ready identity," he stated confidently.
Long-Term Benefits for Nashik's Development
According to the Chief Minister, various infrastructure and civic upgrade projects, collectively worth over Rs 25,000 crore, are being executed by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and other authorities. "While the projects are being fast-tracked to accommodate the expected influx of devotees during the Kumbh Mela, their long-term benefits will remain with Nashik," Fadnavis explained.
He elaborated further, "Devotees will go back after the Kumbh, but the infrastructure created for the event will permanently strengthen the city. This will help the NMC join the ranks of developed municipal corporations. More importantly, Nashik will emerge as a new magnet for investment because of the transformation brought in ahead of the Kumbh."
Kumbh Mela Details and Expected Footfall
The flag-hoisting ceremony for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela is scheduled for October 31 this year, with the three Amrit Snans (holy baths) planned between August and September 2027. The previous Kumbh Mela held in Nashik in 2015 attracted around 2 crore devotees and sadhus. For the upcoming edition, authorities anticipate nearly 5 crore visitors, prompting the NMC and other agencies to undertake extensive works worth thousands of crores to manage the massive influx.
This strategic infrastructure investment is not merely for the temporary event but is designed to lay a robust foundation for Nashik's future economic growth and urban development, positioning it as a key player in Maharashtra's industrial and investment landscape.
