Sanjay Saraogi Visits Temples in Darbhanga After Becoming Bihar BJP Chief
New Bihar BJP Chief Sanjay Saraogi Tours Darbhanga Temples

Patna: In a move blending political duty with spiritual devotion, the newly appointed President of the Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay Saraogi, embarked on a significant pilgrimage across his home district of Darbhanga. This spiritual journey, undertaken just two days after his pivotal political appointment, saw the six-time MLA and former minister seeking divine blessings for the prosperity of Bihar and the strengthening of his party.

A Spiritual Commencement to Political Leadership

On Wednesday, flanked by thousands of enthusiastic party workers, Sanjay Saraogi began his day at the revered Baba Kusheshwar Asthan Temple. Often hailed as the 'Babadhham of Mithila', this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was the first stop. Here, Saraogi performed a sacred 'Jalabhishek' ritual for Baba Kusheshwarnath. He offered prayers specifically for the state's prosperity, the well-being of its citizens, and the fortification of the BJP's organizational strength in Bihar.

The route to the temple transformed into a celebratory procession, with supporters welcoming their new state chief at multiple points along the way. The atmosphere was charged with fervor, setting the tone for the day's events.

Paying Obeisance at Mithila's Sacred Shakti Peeths

Following his visit to Kusheshwar Asthan, Saraogi's spiritual itinerary focused on powerful centers of Shakti worship. He proceeded to the ancient Jwalamukhi Temple at Kasraur, a renowned Shakti Peeth where devotees believe the Goddess grants special blessings and fulfills wishes. His next destination was the Nawada Bhagwati Temple, a site of immense historical and religious significance in the Mithila region's Shakti tradition.

The pilgrimage continued as Saraogi visited several other key temples in and around Darbhanga town. His list included the Shyama Mai Temple, Maa Haihatt Devi, Jagdamba Dham at Nawada, Benipur, and the Baba Hazarinath Temple. At each hallowed site, the BJP leader paused to offer prayers and seek divine guidance for his new and demanding role.

Personal Devotion and a Festive Public Welcome

The tour also included visits of personal significance. Saraogi paid his respects at the Shri Shyam Baba Temple in Shivajinagar, offering obeisance to Khatu Naresh. He also visited the temple of his 'kul guru' or family spiritual preceptor, located at Gandhi Chowk.

Throughout the day, the public response was overwhelming. Party workers organized grand receptions at numerous locations, marking his passage with energetic drumbeats, resonant slogans, and showers of flower petals. The celebratory mood turned large parts of the city into a festive spectacle, underscoring the local support for the leader.

Meanwhile, back at his residence in Darbhanga, a continuous stream of well-wishers, supporters, and local dignitaries gathered to personally congratulate him on his elevation to the state party's top post.

Formal Assumption of Charge in Patna

According to a statement from a BJP spokesperson, Sanjay Saraogi is scheduled to arrive in the state capital, Patna, on Thursday. Upon his arrival, he will formally assume the charge of the Bihar BJP President at the party's state headquarters. This ceremony will mark the official beginning of his tenure, where he is expected to outline his vision and strategy for the party ahead of crucial electoral challenges.

This blend of spiritual grounding and political mobilization highlights a significant phase for the BJP in Bihar, as its new chief connects with both cultural roots and party cadre simultaneously.
