Nikhil Kumaraswamy Accuses Siddaramaiah of 3,000 Farmer Suicides Under Congress
Nikhil Kumaraswamy: 3,000 Farmers Died Under Congress

Janata Dal (Secular) leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy launched a sharp attack on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing the Congress government of failing farmers and leading to 3,000 suicides during its tenure. Speaking at a public event, Kumaraswamy claimed that farmers across the state are trapped in mounting debts and have not received adequate support prices for their crops.

Allegations Against Congress Government

Kumaraswamy, the son of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, stated that the Congress administration has neglected the agrarian crisis. He asserted that between 2013 and 2018, when Congress was in power, over 3,000 farmers ended their lives due to financial distress. The JDS leader blamed the lack of effective policies for the plight of farmers.

Call for Better Agricultural Support

Highlighting the struggles of farmers, Kumaraswamy said, 'The farmers are struggling, caught in debt traps, without a support price for their crops.' He urged the state government to implement minimum support prices and provide immediate relief to indebted farmers. He also criticized Siddaramaiah's leadership, claiming that the chief minister has ignored the rural economy.
