Bharatiya Janata Party's newly appointed national working president, Nitin Nabin, marked his first visit to his home state of Bihar since taking charge with a vibrant and extensive roadshow in the capital city of Patna on Tuesday. The event saw massive turnout from party supporters and was attended by top state BJP leadership.
A Grand Welcome in the Home State
Nitin Nabin, who formally assumed the role of the BJP's national working president in New Delhi on December 15, received a warm welcome upon his arrival at the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. Several senior state BJP leaders were present to greet him. Following this, he embarked on a significant roadshow, demonstrating his connection with the party's grassroots base in Bihar.
The procession commenced from Aranya Bhawan, located near the Patna airport. Nabin, accompanied by Bihar's Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with the state BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi, stood atop a vehicle adorned with flowers and cutouts of the party's election symbol, the lotus. The cavalcade navigated through key points in the city, including Sheikhpura More, the Hanuman temple in Rajbanshi Nagar, and the income tax roundabout, before concluding its journey at the Miller High School ground, which is situated close to the state BJP headquarters on Birchand Patel Marg.
Devotion and Address to Party Workers
A highlight of the roadshow was when Nabin, a fifth-term MLA from the Bankipur assembly seat, paused to offer prayers at the Panchmukhi Hanuman temple in Rajbanshi Nagar. This gesture resonated with the cultural sentiments of the supporters gathered along the route.
Hundreds of BJP workers and supporters lined both sides of the road, waving enthusiastically and showering flower petals on the procession. The air was filled with chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. The entire route from the airport to the school ground was decorated with posters, hoardings, and several stages were set up for cultural performances, indicating the scale of the event. Security across Patna was heightened in view of the BJP's programme.
Upon reaching the Miller High School ground, Nitin Nabin addressed a gathering of BJP workers, rallying them and outlining the party's vision. This interaction was a key part of his engagement with the state's core party unit.
Political Pedigree and Evening Engagements
Nitin Nabin, the son of veteran BJP leader Navin Kishore Sinha, began his political career in 2006 by winning a by-election for the Bankipur seat, which was necessitated by his father's demise. He has since cemented his position, known for his popularity among voters in this urban assembly segment of the state capital. He recently retained the Bankipur seat in the state assembly polls with an impressive margin of approximately 52,000 votes.
Prior to his national role, Nabin served as the state unit chief of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and was the party's in-charge for Chhattisgarh. His appointment as the BJP's national working president was announced on December 14.
According to party insiders, following the roadshow, Nabin's schedule included a meeting with Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan in the evening. Subsequently, he was slated to interact with the party's MPs, MLAs, members of the legislative council, and other senior leaders at the BJP's state headquarters, further consolidating his outreach and discussions on the state's political landscape.
