Addressing Public at Gandhi Maidan Jan Samvad

Addressing a 'Jan Samvad' public interaction program at Gandhi Maidan in Jehanabad, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized the transformative changes the district has experienced over the past two decades under NDA governance. He drew a stark contrast between current development and the pre-2005 era, criticizing the previous administration for failing to improve basic infrastructure and essential public services.

The CM recalled that roads in and around Jehanabad were once in deplorable condition, making travel from Patna and intra-district movement both difficult and time-consuming. Electricity supply across the district was consistently weak and unreliable during that period.

Comprehensive Development Since 2005

Since assuming office in 2005, Nitish Kumar stated that his government has systematically focused on enhancing connectivity, education, healthcare, and public infrastructure throughout Bihar. Highlighting specific achievements in Jehanabad, he detailed several major accomplishments:

  • The Patna-Jehanabad-Gaya road has been expanded to four lanes
  • The Jehanabad-Rajgir road has been completely constructed
  • Three major district roads have been significantly widened and upgraded

In the education sector, the district has seen remarkable institutional growth with the establishment of:

  1. An engineering college
  2. A polytechnic institute
  3. A women's Industrial Training Institute (ITI)
  4. ITIs in all subdivisions

Healthcare infrastructure has similarly expanded with the creation of a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) institute, a paramedical institute, Karpoori hostel, and two residential schools. Tourist facilities at the historically significant Barabar hills have also been substantially developed.

Ongoing and Future Development Initiatives

Nitish Kumar referenced his earlier 'Pragati Yatra' conducted between December 2024 and January-February 2025, during which he visited all districts, reviewed development progress, and approved plans to address remaining gaps. Six projects were specifically sanctioned for Jehanabad during that exercise, with work currently progressing on schedule.

Several major projects are currently under construction in Jehanabad, including:

  • A medical college and hospital
  • A road overbridge at Raja Bazaar
  • New city roads
  • Development works around the Barabar caves
  • A sports complex
  • Four new block-cum-circle office buildings

Vision for 2025-2030 Under Saat Nishchay-3

Looking toward the future, the Chief Minister outlined ambitious plans under the 'Saat Nishchay-3' program for 2025-2030. These include establishing model schools and degree colleges in all seven blocks of Jehanabad, upgrading all seven community health centers into specialty hospitals, and transforming Jehanabad Sadar Hospital into a super-specialty facility. Additionally, a Centre of Excellence for sports will be established in the district to nurture athletic talent.
