In a significant move to address Patna's persistent waterlogging issues, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a comprehensive inspection of multiple drainage upgradation projects across the urban area on Tuesday. The CM directed officials to accelerate construction work while ensuring quality standards.
Serpentine Drain Transformation
Accompanied by senior administration officials, Nitish Kumar first reviewed the construction of the underground drain alongside the 4-lane road on the Serpentine drain stretch. This critical infrastructure project extends from Patel Golambar to the western end of Eco Park, and from the eastern end of Eco Park to Atal Path.
During the detailed inspection, officials briefed the Chief Minister about the plan to completely concretise the Serpentine drain and construct a road above it. Nitish Kumar emphasized the need for speedy completion of the road construction over this underground drain while ensuring proper fixing to provide commuting convenience to citizens.
Rajiv Nagar Drain Inspection
The CM subsequently visited the Rajiv Nagar area to assess the progress of the Rajiv Nagar underground drain construction. He instructed officials to fast-track the construction work, recognizing its importance in solving the area's water accumulation problems.
"Upon completion of these schemes, there will be relief from the waterlogging problem, and the construction of a two-lane road over the Rajiv Nagar drain will provide smooth traffic facility to people," Nitish stated during the inspection. He added that the city would appear cleaner and more organized once these projects are operational.
Mandiri Drain Road Development
The infrastructure review continued with the CM inspecting the under-construction 4-lane road on the Mandiri drain. He also examined the link road connecting the Mandiri drain road to the JP Ganga Path. Officials informed the Chief Minister that construction work is advancing rapidly on these fronts.
Nitish Kumar directed officials to complete the path being constructed on the Mandiri drain at the earliest. He highlighted the dual benefit of these projects: keeping the city organized while ensuring convenient movement for residents across the state capital.
"With the speedy completion of construction work on these roads on the drains, city residents will get alternative routes to go from one place to another," the CM explained. He emphasized that these developments would make Patna's traffic system more robust and smooth.
Official Presence
The inspection witnessed participation from numerous key officials including Urban Development and Housing Minister cum Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, and Urban Development and Housing Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh.
Other prominent officials present during the review included Patna Divisional Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parasar, Bihar State Road Construction Development Corporation Limited's Managing Director Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Patna District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M, Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma.
