Nitish Kumar Initiates Move from Official CM Residence in Patna

In a significant development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has commenced the process of shifting his personal belongings from his official residence at 1 Anne Marg to his new residence located at 7 Circular Road in Patna. The move was visibly underway on Saturday, with household goods being transported out of the chief minister's residence using tractors, signaling a tangible step in the ongoing political transition.

Rajya Sabha Oath Ceremony Precedes the Move

This relocation follows closely on the heels of Kumar's formal induction into the Rajya Sabha. On the preceding day, Nitish Kumar took oath as a member of the Upper House of Parliament in a brief ceremony held at Parliament House in New Delhi. The oath was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan in his chamber.

According to an official statement from the Vice-President's office, "Vice President of India and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, administered the oath to Shri Nitish Kumar as an elected Member of Rajya Sabha, from Bihar, at Parliament House today."

High-Profile Attendance at the Swearing-In

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent political figures, underscoring its importance. Attendees included Union Ministers J P Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ram Nath Thakur, and Arjun Ram Meghwal. From Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary was also in attendance.

Other notable leaders present were JD(U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Congress chief whip in Rajya Sabha Jairam Ramesh, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, and BJP chief whip in Lok Sabha Sanjay Jaiswal, reflecting a cross-section of political support and observation.

Kumar's Reflections and Upcoming Resignation

After taking the oath, Kumar exited the new Parliament building and took a moment to reflect on his previous tenure in the Lok Sabha and his experiences in the old Parliament House, marking a nostalgic note in his parliamentary journey.

Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and subsequently resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council. As per constitutional requirements, he had to vacate his council seat within 14 days of his election to the Upper House.

The political landscape in Bihar is now poised for further change. Kumar is expected to formally resign as chief minister in the near future. According to reports from news agency PTI, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to select a new chief minister for Bihar on April 14, setting the stage for a leadership transition in the state.

This series of events—from the Rajya Sabha oath to the physical move from the CM residence—highlights the ongoing shifts in Bihar's political dynamics, with all eyes now on the impending selection of a new chief minister to steer the state forward.
