Nitish Kumar to Relocate to New Patna Residence, Secures Delhi Bungalow
In a significant development, JD(U) supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to shift to his new residence at 7, Circular Road in Patna next week, according to reliable sources. This move marks a transition in his living arrangements following his recent political changes.
New Accommodations and Security Details
Nitish Kumar, who has also been allotted a new Type 8 bungalow at 9, Sunehri Bagh Road in Delhi, visited the Patna bungalow on Friday to inspect the ongoing renovation work. He was accompanied by his son, Nishant Kumar, during this visit. The former CM has already been provided with Z+ security, as per a notification issued on March 30, ensuring high-level protection. Previously, as the Chief Minister, Nitish enjoyed a special security cover under the Bihar Special Security Act, 2000, highlighting the continuity of his security needs.
Political Context and Schedule Changes
The allocation of these new accommodations follows Nitish Kumar's resignation from the post of Bihar Chief Minister and his subsequent oath-taking as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10. Until now, he had been residing at the Chief Minister's official residence at 1, Anne Marg in Patna. Notably, on Friday, Nitish had a comparatively quiet day, a shift from his typically busy morning schedule over the last two decades, as the administration's focus has shifted to his successor, Samrat Choudhary of the BJP.
However, despite his new role, Nitish Kumar did not attend the crucial House proceedings on Friday, which included discussions on three very important bills, such as the women's quota amendment bill. This absence has drawn attention in political circles.
Delhi Bungalow in VVIP Locality
The Sunheri Bagh area in Delhi, where his new bungalow is located, is renowned as one of Delhi's most VVIP localities, forming an integral part of Lutyens' Delhi. This allocation underscores his continued status as a key political figure at the national level.
Nitish Kumar took stock of the ongoing preparations and arrangements at the 7, Circular Road bungalow in Patna, indicating his active involvement in the relocation process. The move symbolizes a new chapter in his personal and political life, as he adjusts to life outside the Chief Minister's office while maintaining a presence in both state and national politics.
