Karnataka CM Change Speculation Dismissed by HD Kumaraswamy
No CM Change in Karnataka: Kumaraswamy

Union Minister and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has firmly rejected ongoing speculation about a potential change in leadership within the southern state's government. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Friday, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader asserted that replacing current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would not be an easy task for the ruling Congress party.

No Easy Replacement for Siddaramaiah

Kumaraswamy explicitly stated that there would be no chief minister change in Karnataka despite widespread rumors suggesting otherwise. According to PTI reports, the veteran politician emphasized the difficulty the Congress would face in removing Siddaramaiah from his position.

The JD(S) leader offered unexpected praise for the Congress stalwart, describing him as a "capable leader" whose abilities he understands well due to their past political association. Kumaraswamy recalled that Siddaramaiah had previously been part of the JD(S) before joining the Congress in 2006 after being expelled from the party led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

Dismissing the 'November Revolution' Theory

Political circles in Karnataka have been buzzing with rumors that a leadership change could occur after November 20, which marks the halfway point of the Congress government's five-year term that began in May 2023. Some political observers have dubbed this potential shift the "November Revolution."

Kumaraswamy expressed skepticism about these predictions, stating "I don't have any belief in revolutions. Discussions have been going on about a revolution, but there will be none in my opinion." His comments come amid ongoing tension within the Congress party regarding the chief minister's position.

Swipes at Deputy CM's Ambitions

When questioned about Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief DK Shivakumar's prospects of succeeding Siddaramaiah, Kumaraswamy delivered a sharp remark. "He (Shivakumar) discusses with God every day about when he will be made the chief minister. It is between him and God," the Union minister commented.

This response came after Shivakumar's statement that a "revolution" would only happen in 2028 when the Congress returns to power again. Kumaraswamy countered this by noting that many politicians in the state have previously claimed they would remain in power for extended periods, only to see those predictions fail.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has recently reaffirmed his intention to serve the full five-year term, though he acknowledged this would be subject to the Congress high command's final decision. The political landscape in Karnataka remains tense as these competing narratives unfold.
