Tragic Death of BTech Student in Noida High-Rise Society
A 21-year-old woman died tragically early on Sunday after jumping from the balcony of a 28th-floor apartment in a high-rise society in Noida's Sector 32. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and is currently under police investigation.
Details of the Incident
According to police officials, the deceased has been identified as Arpita, a resident of Block-D in Wave Amore society. She was a second-year BTech student at a university in Punjab. Her elder sister also studies at the same institution. The family originally hails from Basti in Uttar Pradesh and was living in a rented apartment within the society. Her father is reportedly a businessman.
SK Tomar, the SHO of Sector 24 police station, provided details of the tragic event. "Around 12:20 am on Sunday, when her parents and sister had retired to their rooms to sleep, Arpita went to the balcony of the drawing room and jumped to her death," he stated.
Discovery and Immediate Response
The security guard on duty at the tower heard a sound of something falling and immediately rushed to investigate. He discovered the young woman lying in a pool of blood. The guard promptly informed society residents, who then reported the incident to the police.
"By the time a police team reached the spot, the woman had already died," SHO Tomar confirmed. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and the results are currently awaited.
Preliminary Investigation Findings
Police preliminary inquiry suggests that Arpita took this extreme step after being scolded by her parents over an undisclosed issue. "During the investigation, it came to light that around two to three days back, both sisters came home and her parents scolded her on Saturday over an issue before going to sleep," the SHO explained.
According to family members, Arpita had been visibly upset since the scolding incident. "No amount of counselling had calmed her," the police officer added, based on statements from grieving relatives.
Ongoing Police Investigation
No suicide note has been recovered from the scene. Police officials have stated that the exact reason for the dispute will be ascertained after recording detailed statements from family members. While no formal complaint has been received yet, further investigation is actively underway.
The tragic incident highlights the importance of mental health awareness and family communication, particularly among young adults facing academic and personal pressures.
