Odisha CM Directs Vigilance on Essential Commodities Amid Middle East Tensions
In a proactive move to safeguard public welfare, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level review meeting on Thursday to assess the state government's preparedness in addressing potential artificial shortages of essential commodities. Ensuring Adequate Stocks and Preventing Scarcity
During the comprehensive review, officials presented a detailed report confirming that Odisha currently maintains sufficient reserves of critical items. The state has adequate stocks of petroleum products, cooking gas (LPG), and other essential commodities, providing a buffer against immediate shortages. However, CM Majhi emphasized the need for unwavering vigilance to prevent any artificial scarcity, particularly focusing on LPG availability for both domestic and commercial use.
"We must ensure that no citizen faces hardship due to hoarding or black marketing," Majhi stated, directing enforcement agencies to implement a robust monitoring framework. He issued clear instructions for statewide inspections and raids to identify and penalize unscrupulous traders engaging in hoarding practices. The chief minister underscored the importance of stringent action to curb black marketing, which could exacerbate supply issues during this period of geopolitical uncertainty.

Beyond immediate essentials, Majhi highlighted the critical importance of securing sufficient fertilizer supplies for the upcoming rabi season.
