Opposition Parties Launch Scathing Attack on BJP Following Nitish Kumar's Council Resignation
Opposition parties in Bihar reacted with sharp criticism on Monday after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation from membership of the legislative council. The development has triggered a political firestorm, with opposition leaders accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of employing deceptive tactics similar to those used in Maharashtra.
Tejashwi Yadav's Strong Condemnation
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav declared that this development clearly indicates the saffron party has followed the exact same path it previously adopted in Maharashtra. "They have deceived both Nitish Kumar and the people of Bihar through calculated political maneuvering," stated Yadav while addressing reporters.
The RJD leader emphasized that his party had predicted from the very beginning that Nitish Kumar would not continue as Chief Minister. "They repackaged the Maharashtra-like situation and removed Nitish ji through systematic planning," explained Tejashwi, adding that BJP leaders had betrayed both the Chief Minister and Bihar's citizens.
Yadav further noted that it became evident when Nitish Kumar left the INDIA bloc just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections that he would not be permitted to continue leading Bihar. When questioned about whether Nitish's son Nishant possessed the capability to lead Bihar, Tejashwi avoided providing a direct response, instead stating that any youth was welcome to participate in politics.
RJD Spokesperson Declares Political Career Over
RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav asserted that this development marks the definitive end of Nitish Kumar's political career. "This represents the shocking conclusion to the political journey of Nitish Kumar, who has become ensnared in the BJP's intricate web," declared Shakti.
He elaborated that Nitish Kumar served as Chief Minister due to specific circumstances, and political ideologies held little significance for him. "The BJP executed a major political game, and Nitish Kumar became trapped within the elaborate web they carefully constructed," added the RJD spokesperson.
Prashant Kishor Questions Leadership Fitness
Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor offered a different perspective, suggesting that Nitish Kumar was not physically and mentally fit to continue governing, which explained why he was being removed from his position. However, Kishor simultaneously criticized leaders from both the BJP and JD(U) for deceiving Bihar's population.
"Who has betrayed the people of Bihar? Nitish Kumar, his political party, and BJP leaders who were fully aware that Nitish Kumar was not keeping well, yet they continued making false promises about providing one crore jobs," stated Kishor. "Now he himself has lost his position. Who will actually deliver jobs to the people of Bihar?"
Congress Questions Constitutional Implications
Congress state chief spokesperson Rajesh Rathorre highlighted that although Nitish Kumar has stepped down from membership of the Vidhan Parishad, significant uncertainty remains regarding whether he will also resign from the Chief Minister's post.
"He was constitutionally obligated to resign today, otherwise formal constitutional action would have been initiated against him," explained Rathorre. "However, ordinary citizens as well as BJP members remain confused about whether he will relinquish the Chief Minister position. He has consistently kept people uncertain throughout his tenure and continues this pattern even at the conclusion, otherwise why would he delay leaving the Chief Minister's chair?"
The political landscape in Bihar remains tense as opposition parties intensify their criticism of the BJP's handling of the situation, while questions persist about Nitish Kumar's political future and leadership transition in the state.
