Kottayam: The independent front governing the Pala municipality has accepted the four proposals put forward by the Congress brass to resolve the administrative crisis in the civic body.
Proposals Accepted
The proposals, finalized after consulting councillors, are: granting legal approval to the auto stand set up at the Kottaramattam bus terminal; withdrawing the theft complaint filed against a Congress councillor; handing over the vice-chairperson post to Congress after Maya Rahul resigns; and forming a steering committee under UDF for administrative oversight.
UDF Support
Congress also placed the proposals before the other UDF constituents in the municipality — Kerala Congress (Joseph) and KDP — both of whom agreed to accept them unconditionally.
With this, all grievances raised by Congress councillors, including Biju Mathews, stand resolved. Party leaders expressed confidence that the councillors would fall in line and described the resolution as a victory for the leadership.
Announcement
The development was announced before the media by DCC vice-president Biju Punnathanam, block Congress committee president N Suresh, DCC general secretary Satheesh Chollani, and mandalam president Thomaskutty Nechikkattil.
