Palamu District Gears Up for Civic Body Election with 246 Polling Stations
In preparation for the upcoming civic body election scheduled for February 23, Palamu district officials have announced a comprehensive plan to establish 246 polling stations across the region. This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and accessible voting process for all residents.
Detailed Breakdown of Polling Station Setup
A total of 157 government buildings will be utilized to set up these 243 fixed polling stations. The distribution is as follows: 80 buildings will host a single polling station each, 68 buildings will accommodate two stations each, and nine buildings will house three stations each. Additionally, three mobile polling stations will be deployed, bringing the overall count to 246.
District Election Officer (Municipality)-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Palamu, Sameera S, highlighted that this election will feature some newer polling stations compared to those used in the 2024 Vidhan Sabha election, indicating an effort to improve voter convenience and infrastructure.
Focus on Accessibility and Basic Facilities
Deputy Election Officer (Municipality) Ratan Kumar Singh emphasized that polling stations are strategically located in government buildings, particularly schools, which are chosen for their adequate basic facilities. He noted that many of these schools are equipped with ramps, providing significant convenience for disabled voters and ensuring inclusivity in the electoral process.
This setup underscores the district's commitment to facilitating a fair and accessible election, with careful planning to accommodate diverse voter needs.
