Major Fire Erupts in Patna Residential Area, Property Worth Lakhs Destroyed
A significant fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday in Patna, causing extensive damage to property estimated at lakhs of rupees. The incident occurred at the residence of Prem Kumar on Daldali Road, located within the jurisdiction of the Gandhi Maidan police station. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported from the blaze, which sent shockwaves through the local community.
Panic and Evacuation as Flames Engulf House
According to eyewitness accounts, the fire erupted around 2:30 AM, quickly engulfing Prem Kumar's house in intense flames. The sudden blaze triggered widespread panic among nearby residents and shopkeepers, many of whom fled their homes in fear as the situation escalated rapidly. The narrow lanes of the area added to the chaos, complicating emergency response efforts.
Firefighters Battle Challenges to Control Blaze
Fire tenders arrived promptly at the scene after receiving alerts. However, the constricted access routes posed significant challenges for the vehicles to maneuver effectively. Firefighters had to employ ladders and strategic water sprays from the sides to combat the fierce flames. After approximately two and a half hours of relentless effort, the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by around 5:30 AM. Their swift action was crucial in preventing the blaze from spreading to adjacent houses and shops, averting further damage.
Investigation Underway, Possible Short Circuit Suspected
Sub-divisional fire officer Ajit Kumar provided details on the response, stating that nearly 10 fire engines, including both large and small units, were deployed to tackle the incident. Preliminary inquiries suggest a possible short circuit as the cause of the fire, though a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the exact reason. Four individuals were successfully rescued from the house during the operation, highlighting the effectiveness of the emergency measures taken.
