Patna Mob Blocks Key Road for Two Hours Demanding Justice for Murdered Truck Driver

An irate mob in Patna brought traffic to a standstill on the Danapur-Gandhi Maidan road for approximately two hours on Friday. The protest erupted in response to the brutal murder of a local truck driver, Bittu, with demonstrators demanding the immediate arrest of the assailants responsible for the heinous crime.

Brutal Assault Leads to Tragic Death

Bittu, whose real name is Palkian, was a 28-year-old resident of Kasyatoli under the Danapur police station area. On Thursday evening, he was viciously attacked by more than a dozen youths in the Takiyapar locality. The assailants used rods, sticks, bricks, and stones in the assault, leaving Bittu with severe injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his wounds. Bittu had returned home just three days earlier to attend his sister's wedding, which was scheduled for May 1. According to police, Bittu had a criminal history and had served jail time twice before for petty crimes.

Family and Locals Take to the Streets in Protest

Enraged by the murder, family members and local residents placed Bittu's body on the road near the Gandhi Murti at Takiyapar, effectively blocking the main Danapur-Gandhi Maidan thoroughfare. The protesters raised slogans against the administration and demanded swift action to apprehend those involved in the incident.

As news of the road blockade spread, a large police contingent from Danapur police station arrived at the scene. Officers attempted to persuade the protesters to clear the road, leading to about an hour of tense arguments.

Police Assurance Leads to End of Blockade

After negotiations, police assured the protesters of early arrests in the case, following which the blockade was cleared. Danapur Station House Officer Prashant Kumar Bharadwaj stated, "Bittu had an old dispute with the main accused living in the same locality. However, the family members have not revealed the exact cause of the dispute."

Bharadwaj added that the names of the accused cannot be disclosed at this time as the investigation is ongoing. The family has submitted a written complaint naming three specific individuals.

Investigation Underway with CCTV Evidence

Police are currently examining CCTV footage from around the crime scene to identify all those involved in the attack. "The criminals involved in the incident will be arrested soon," Bharadwaj emphasized, highlighting the department's commitment to resolving the case.

The incident has highlighted tensions in the area, with residents demanding greater security and justice for victims of violent crime. Further investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading to Bittu's tragic death.
