Patna is under a stringent security blanket on Tuesday in anticipation of a grand roadshow by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to welcome its national working president, Nitin Nabin. This marks Nabin's first visit to the Bihar capital since his elevation to the high-profile post on December 14.
Roadshow Route and Schedule
The procession is scheduled to commence around 12 noon from the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport. It will traverse through several prominent locations including Aranya Bhavan, Sheikhpura More, Patel Bhavan, Punaichak, the Patna High Court, Vidyut Bhavan, the Income Tax roundabout, and the BJP state office on Beerchand Patel Path. The roadshow is expected to conclude at the Miller High School ground by approximately 4 pm, lasting about four hours and drawing large crowds of party workers and supporters.
Multi-Layered Security Arrangements
To ensure the leader's safe passage, the Patna Police have rolled out an extensive security plan. This includes heavy deployment of personnel along the entire route, barricading at key junctions, restricted vehicular movement, and enhanced patrolling. Authorities are also in close coordination with airport and traffic police units.
A comprehensive traffic management plan is in effect, applicable to all vehicles except those involved in emergency services like fire brigades, ambulances, judicial duties, and vehicles with valid passes. Strict no-parking rules are enforced from Patel Golambar to the airport, with party workers directed to use the airport's outer parking area. Air travelers have been advised to reach the airport at least three hours before their flight due to anticipated disruptions.
Detailed Traffic Diversions and Advisories
Traffic officials have outlined specific alternative routes to minimize public inconvenience:
- Vehicles from the south heading to Patna airport via the District Transport Office (DTO) should detour via Tamtam Padav and Phulwarisharif.
- Those approaching from north of the DTO must use Jagdeo Path.
- Commuters from Saguna Mor or Danapur moving east on Bailey Road (Nehru Path) are likely to face congestion near Raja Bazar ROB and should use alternative routes via Jagdeo Path, DTO, Tamtam Pada, and Phulwarisharif towards the south, or via Ashiana-Digha Road in the north.
- No parking is permitted on Jagdeo Path.
- Traffic from Kankarbagh or Patna Junction should proceed via GPO ROB, R-Block ROB, Gardanibagh ROB, and Anisabad Golambar.
- Movement will be completely prohibited on both sides of Beerchand Patel Path from R-Block Golambar to I-T Golambar.
Designated parking for small vehicles of participants is allocated from GPO Golambar to R-Block. Parking for heavy vehicles and buses has been arranged on one flank of the single lane on Atal Path.
Authorities have made a fervent appeal to the public to avoid the main route during the roadshow hours, opt for public transport where feasible, plan journeys in advance, and cooperate with the traffic personnel on duty to ensure a smooth and secure event.
