Union Minister Piyush Goyal Condemns DMK's Dynasty Rule and Corruption in Tamil Nadu

In a scathing critique delivered on Sunday, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, blaming its dynastic politics and widespread corruption for the state's neglect and developmental delays. Goyal specifically pointed to the political family of Chief Minister M K Stalin, which includes his son Udhayanidhi Stalin, son-in-law Sabareesan, and Tuticorin MP Kanimozhi, as central to the issue.

Corruption Hindering Tamil Nadu's Economic Potential

Goyal emphasized that Tamil Nadu possesses immense economic potential, with numerous business leaders expressing interest in investing in the state. However, he asserted that this interest is being squandered by an ineffective DMK administration plagued by corruption. "Investors and businesses desire good law and order, high-quality infrastructure, a peaceful work climate, and amenities like electricity available at reasonable prices. But most importantly, they want a corruption-free government," Goyal stated.

He questioned whether the DMK government has lived up to public expectations, highlighting critical social issues such as crimes against children and rising drug abuse among the youth. According to Goyal, these problems are also negatively impacting the state's tourism sector, further stalling progress.

Call for Change and NDA's Vision for Tamil Nadu

"Tamil Nadu needs a change for the better, with a government that cares for its people and promotes opportunities," Goyal declared. He outlined a vision to transform Tamil Nadu into an international business hub and ensure development reaches every corner of the state. The minister expressed confidence in the Tamil Nadu NDA, led by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, to foster an environment of trust with robust law and order enforcement.

Goyal pledged that the NDA would eradicate corruption and guarantee comprehensive development across Tamil Nadu. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on enhancing and improving national infrastructure, contrasting it with the situation in Tamil Nadu.

Specific Allegations of Corruption and Delays

Drawing a stark comparison, Goyal alleged that corruption in Tamil Nadu has escalated under the DMK regime, affecting various sectors including:

  • Tenders and contracts
  • Land allotments
  • Sand mining licenses
  • The liquor business

He further claimed that the state government has failed to respond to requests for corrections and clarifications regarding Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for metro rail projects in Coimbatore and Madurai. Additionally, Goyal hinted at delays in land acquisition for the expansion of the Madurai airport runway, noting that the state government is still in the process of transferring land to the central authorities.

Strong Opposition to Udhayanidhi Stalin's Political Ascent

In a particularly forceful statement, Goyal vowed that the BJP would prevent Udhayanidhi Stalin from ever becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. "Udhayanidhi Stalin is a person who does not respect Tamil culture, its pride, its history, or its heritage. We will make sure he can never become CM of Tamil Nadu," he asserted.

Goyal concluded by framing the upcoming political choices in stark terms, warning that voting for the DMK is effectively a vote to make Udhayanidhi Stalin the chief minister, a prospect he strongly opposed.
