PMK Founder Ramadoss Files Police Complaint Against Son Anbumani Over 'Forged' Party Presidency
PMK founder files police complaint against son over party presidency

In a dramatic escalation of an internal family and political feud, PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss has formally lodged a complaint with the New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police. He is seeking the registration of an FIR against his own son, Dr. R. Anbumani, accusing him of fraudulently claiming the presidency of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party.

The Core Allegations: Forgery and Unauthorized Takeover

The crux of the complaint, signed by Ramadoss and presented by the party's honorary president G.K. Mani, is that Anbumani submitted forged documents to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 2023. Ramadoss asserts that these documents were created to illegally declare Anbumani as the party president without any legitimate election or selection by the PMK's competent body.

Ramadoss stated in his complaint, "I am the founder and president of PMK, as elected by the competent body with effect from May 30, 2025, for the period of three years." He directly accused his son, stating, "The former president, Dr R Anbumani, submitted a forged document to ECI on Aug 31 in 2023. The creation of document dated Aug 31 is an attempt to grab the PMK party from me."

Furthermore, the complaint alleges that Anbumani also modified the official registered address of the party using similar forged documents. Ramadoss has urged the police to not only file an FIR but also to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a "fair and swift interrogation." He cited existing CBI cases against Anbumani related to corruption as a reason for this request.

Public Accusations and Internal Backlash

The dispute spilled into the public domain when G.K. Mani, after submitting the complaint, spoke to reporters in New Delhi. He labeled the ECI's acceptance of the documents as a "fraudulent action" and a "betrayal." This public condemnation from a senior party figure highlights the deep rift within the PMK's leadership.

However, the move has triggered a strong counter-reaction from supporters of Anbumani. PMK spokesperson K. Balu, who backs Anbumani, warned that the party would initiate disciplinary action against Mani "if he continues to indulge in anti-party activities." Balu also claimed that several party functionaries are demanding Mani's removal from the party for his actions.

What Happens Next?

The situation presents a complex legal and political challenge. The New Delhi police must now decide on the merit of the complaint to register an FIR. The allegations of document forgery, if investigated by the CBI as requested, could lead to serious legal consequences. Politically, the open conflict between the founder and his son, who is a former Union Minister, threatens to split the party and damage its prospects in Tamil Nadu politics.

The Election Commission of India may also be drawn into the fray to verify the authenticity of the documents submitted by both factions. The outcome of this bitter struggle will determine the future leadership and control of the PMK, a significant player in the state's political landscape.
