Police Confront Farm Activists Ahead of CM Bhagwant Mann's Moga Rally

In a tense prelude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's scheduled rally in Moga, Punjab police engaged in a significant confrontation with activists from the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC). According to reliable sources, the authorities took preemptive measures to curb potential disruptions, including placing some teachers under house arrest to prevent planned protests.

Farmers Detained at Religious Site Near Rally Venue

Farm activists had gathered at Dunneke village, located near the Moga grain market which served as the venue for the CM's rally. However, police intervened by locking them inside a nearby religious place, effectively restricting their movement and preventing them from reaching the event. While a few farmers managed to make their way to the Moga grain market, they were ultimately barred from accessing the rally venue itself.

Political Reactions and Accusations

KMSC leader Satnam Singh Pannu criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of aligning with the policies of the Narendra Modi-led central government. Meanwhile, Congress MLAs Pargat Singh and Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal utilized social media platforms to condemn the AAP administration's actions. Pargat Singh specifically highlighted what he termed as the "authoritarianism of the Aam Aadmi Party," alleging that police were dispatched to the homes of teachers in nearby constituencies to stop them from attending the rally and challenging the government's claims regarding education reforms, referred to as 'Sikhya Kranti.'
