Widespread protests have erupted across Karnataka following allegations that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is being forced out of his position. Members of the Kurubara Sangha, a community organization, have taken to the streets in several cities to express their solidarity with the embattled leader.
Protests in Kalaburagi
In Kalaburagi, office-bearers of the Kurubara Sangha organized a protest rally, marching through the city to voice their support for Siddaramaiah. The demonstrators carried placards and shouted slogans condemning the alleged move to oust the chief minister. Some protestors even resorted to burning tyres to express their anguish over the situation.
Solidarity Across the State
The protests were not limited to Kalaburagi alone. Similar demonstrations were reported in other parts of Karnataka, where members of the Kurubara community gathered to show their backing for Siddaramaiah, who belongs to the same community. The Kurubara Sangha has been a key support base for the chief minister, and its members feel that the attempts to remove him are unjust.
The Congress party, which leads the state government, has not officially commented on the protests. However, sources indicate that internal party dynamics may be at play, with some factions reportedly seeking a change in leadership. Siddaramaiah has not yet responded to the allegations.
Political analysts suggest that the protests could escalate if the situation is not handled carefully. The Kurubara community holds significant influence in Karnataka politics, and any perceived slight against their leader could have repercussions for the ruling party.
As the protests continue, security has been tightened in sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidents. The state government has urged calm and promised to address the concerns of the protesters.
