Tragic Drowning in Indrayani River Claims Young Man's Life Near Pune

A 24-year-old man tragically lost his life after drowning in the Indrayani river at Kund Mala, located near Talegaon Dabhade, on Friday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Prathamesh Lonari, a resident of Phugewadi, who had visited the area for an outing with his friends.

Details of the Incident and Rescue Efforts

According to police reports, Lonari entered the river for a swim but soon began to struggle and disappeared underwater. A rescue team from Wanyajiv Rakshak Maval, led by Nilesh Garade, rushed to the spot and launched an immediate search operation. They managed to trace Lonari within 10 minutes, pulling him from the water. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The Talegaon MIDC police have registered a case of accidental death in response to this heartbreaking event.

Second Drowning Incident in Maval Area Within Two Days

This incident marks the second drowning reported in the Maval area in just the last two days, raising serious concerns about water safety in the region. On Thursday, a 22-year-old man named Rameshwar Bhand, a resident of Pimpri, drowned in the Pavana river at Salumbre village. The Shirgaon police have also registered an accidental death report in that case, underscoring a pattern of tragic accidents in local waterways.
