Pune Police Seize 74kg Ganja Worth Rs 37 Lakh

Pune: The Sangvi police on Sunday recovered a total of 74 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs 37 lakh from Patethan village in Daund taluka, following the arrest of an accused on April 16 in Sangvi.

The accused, identified as Ganesh Chavan, 30, a resident of Shirur, was apprehended by the police with 14 kilograms of ganja in the Sangvi area on April 16. During custodial interrogation, Chavan disclosed the name of his accomplice and revealed that additional quantities of ganja were stored at the accomplice's residence in Patethan village, Daund taluka.

Acting on this information, a police team led by Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Koli conducted a raid on the house in Patethan village. During the search, they discovered and seized 60 kilograms of ganja concealed in a cowshed. An officer from the Sangvi police stated that investigations have revealed that Chavan and his accomplice had transported the ganja from another state. The duo was reportedly supplying the contraband in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and rural areas.

The police have launched a search for Chavan's accomplice, who is currently absconding. Further investigations are underway.
