In response to recent flooding incidents in the Manjari and Ghule Wasti areas, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a decisive plan to address infrastructure issues within the Baby Canal. The civic administration has resolved to relocate water lines and cables that are currently obstructing the canal's water flow, a move aimed at preventing future waterlogging and property damage.

Authorities are actively considering the installation of iron mesh at vulnerable sections of the canal to deter illegal waste dumping, which exacerbates blockages and compromises water management. Former corporator Yogesh Sasane revealed that he has persistently highlighted the deplorable condition of the Hadapsar area's canals, including the Baby Canal and the Mutha Canal, for over five years without witnessing substantial remedial action.
"Both canals, which are vital for supplying water to rural communities, have suffered from chronic neglect and inadequate surveillance," Sasane emphasized, underscoring the systemic failure in upkeep.
