Pune Traffic Disruption: Hinjewadi Phase II Faces Weeks of Congestion Due to Cable Repairs
Commuters traveling through Hinjewadi Phase II in Pune are bracing for significant traffic disruptions over the coming weeks. The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) has initiated urgent cable repair work, leading to major road obstructions and reduced lane availability.
Affected Stretch and Operational Constraints
The impacted area spans from Wipro Circle to MIDC Circle, located near Metro station 3. Following a technical fault in an underground transmission cable, the road has been excavated, severely limiting vehicular movement. Currently, only a single lane remains operational for traffic in both directions, causing bottlenecks and delays.
Peak Hour Traffic Advisory from Police
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil of the Pimpri Chinchwad police has issued a stern warning to commuters. He anticipates that congestion will peak during specific time slots: from 8 AM to 11 AM in the mornings and from 4 PM to 8 PM in the evenings. In light of this, Patil strongly urges drivers to avoid this route unless absolutely necessary and to seek alternative roads to minimize travel time and reduce gridlock.
Commuters Advised to Plan Ahead
With the repair work expected to continue for several weeks, residents and daily travelers are encouraged to:
- Check real-time traffic updates before heading out.
- Consider carpooling or using public transportation where feasible.
- Allow extra time for journeys through or near the affected zone.
This ongoing infrastructure maintenance highlights the challenges of urban development and the importance of proactive traffic management during such projects.
