Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar Slams AAP-Congress Alliance

Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar Intensifies Critique of State's Political Dynamics

In a sharp escalation of political rhetoric, Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sunil Jakhar has launched a vigorous attack on the state's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Opposition. Jakhar alleges a tacit agreement between the two parties, claiming it has led to a neglect of public issues and governance failures.

Allegations of Covert AAP-Congress Alliance

Speaking recently, Jakhar asserted that the Congress has effectively "surrendered" to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, resulting in critical public concerns vanishing from both parties' agendas. He cited Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to Punjab as evidence, noting the absence of any criticism directed at the AAP government during the event. Jakhar described this as clear proof of an evident alliance that undermines democratic accountability.

Criticism of Governance and Women's Policies

Jakhar further targeted AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, referring to him as the "Super CM" of Punjab, and questioned the government's International Women's Day budget announcement. He demanded transparency regarding the ₹1,000 monthly allowance promised to women, calling for the government to account for ₹48,000 in arrears per woman for the past 48 months. Additionally, Jakhar raised concerns about the role of Vaibhav Kumar, who is allegedly involved in an assault on a woman MP, asking how the government can claim to honor women under such circumstances.

Controversy Over Out-of-State Contracts

The BJP leader also took aim at Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa over the issue of PRTC buses being sent to Jaipur for painting in AAP colors. Jakhar questioned why such contracts are awarded outside Punjab, asking, "Does Punjab not even have painters capable of painting buses?" He alleged that during the previous Congress administration, similar contracts with Rajasthan-based firms were used to "blackmail" political leaders, and challenged Bajwa to address this matter in the State Assembly.

Potential Alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal and State's Critical Situation

When queried about a potential alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Jakhar acknowledged that party members may hold differing opinions but emphasized that any final decision must serve the interests of Punjab. He described the state's current condition as "critical," highlighting a heavy debt burden and an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty that he attributes to poor governance.

Preparations for Amit Shah's Rally and Praise for Union Home Minister

Jakhar also reviewed preparations for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's upcoming rally in Moga on March 14. He likened Shah to "Iron Man" Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, referring to him as the "Iron Man of modern India." Jakhar underscored Shah's concern for Punjab, citing the appointment of a Punjabi as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi as a point of pride for the state, and expressed optimism about the rally's impact on mobilizing support.

This comprehensive critique from the BJP state president underscores the intensifying political tensions in Punjab, as parties gear up for future electoral battles and governance scrutiny.
